My sister felt sick, my parents decided to skip my wedding. They said, “We’re worried about her. You’re the older sister, so you should understand.” I cut ties with them. 10 years later, they suddenly found my address and barged into my house. I’ve been waiting for this time.

My name is Maranne. At the start of last year, I overindulged in gourmet food and gained 3 kg, so I’m 45 years old and dieting in anticipation of this coming end ofe holiday.

If I lose 3 kog now, it won’t be a problem if I gain 3 kog during the long holiday, right? Right? Isn’t that the point? Haha.

You must be joking. There’s so much delicious food from Christmas to New Year’s. It’s a happy problem. I’ll probably end up buying myself Valentine’s chocolates too. Oops, I’m drooling a little.

Looks like I’m going to gain weight again this year. Oh dear.

Well, today I have a winter episode I’d really like you to hear. It’s a story from when I was 25 years old.

After dating for several years, my engagement to my boyfriend Scott was decided, and I introduced him to my parents. This was the so-called marriage greetings. My parents liked Scott, and the marriage discussion should have gone smoothly.

But there was a problem.

When my older sister Sally, who is 2 years older than me, came back from work, she was fixated on Scott. Strangely, when you are sisters, you can understand each other’s feelings and thoughts. She had fallen in love with Scott at first sight.

I hoped it was just a whim, but when my sister shook hands with Scott, she blushed and held his hand tightly. Even when talking, she always had a dreamy look look in her eyes.

I don’t think it’s appropriate for a sister to behave like that towards her younger sister’s boyfriend, but she must have done it unconsciously. Human emotions are uncontrollable, and I continued to pretend I didn’t see anything, believing my sister wouldn’t pursue a serious relationship.

However, after Scott left, my sister, who had just come out of the bath wrapped only in a towel, confronted me.

“You should call off the engagement,” she declared.

According to her, that man is a philanderer, and you can find someone more suitable. She continued to slander Scott, but there was no basis for her claims.

“Why do you think he’s a Playboy?” I asked.

“It’s a woman’s intuition,” my sister replied.

My sister has never had a boyfriend. How could I believe in her woman’s intuition based on her inexperience with the opposite sex?

Therefore, I thought I should trust Scott’s character, which I have observed over the years. Of course, I casually dismissed my sister’s advice with a yah, “I’ll be careful,” not taking it too seriously.

Since then, Scott frequently visited our home. He said he wanted to build a good relationship with my family, so I invited him over comfortably. In response, my parents were pleased, and I hoped that my future husband and my parents would get along well.

Though the relationship should have been built positively, my sister tried to build a good relation reltionship with Scott in a different sense.

According to Scott, when I wasn’t around, she grabbed his arm, pressed her chest against him, and asked, “Don’t you think Maryann is immature?”

She even asked for his contact details and intentionally fell down to expose her underwear. Scott said it was so overdone it was actually funny, but I would have been really worried if he was the kind of man to take it seriously.

Also, my sister thought there was a chance because Scott couldn’t outright refuse her, as she was my sister, and every time they met, she approached him with a sweet voice, saying, “Hey.”

Although it started with love at first sight, the fact that Scott worked at a fairly large company also struck her heart.

“He’s dependable, has the type of face I like, and is a good man who provides security for the future,” she said.

She was completely captivated by him.

While witnessing my sister’s inappropriate behavior, my parents said nothing. In fact, it’s not new for my parents to say nothing to my sister. Honestly, my sister has always been the type who can’t do anything right.
