Five minutes after signing the divorce papers, my ex hurried off to celebrate his mistress’s baby at an elite clinic
PART 3 — THE CLINIC OF BROKEN ILLUSIONS
“The prenatal DNA results came in this morning.”
Dr. Reynolds spoke carefully, but the damage had already begun.
Inside the private consultation suite, Chloe’s smile disappeared first.
Then Adrian’s.
Then Margaret Castillo’s carefully constructed composure cracked like thin ice.
“What exactly are you saying?” Adrian demanded.
Dr. Reynolds slid the sealed report across the glass table.
“The fetus is not biologically related to you, Mr. Castillo.”
For several seconds, nobody moved.
The air itself seemed to stop.
Vanessa laughed nervously.
“That’s impossible.”
But Dr. Reynolds didn’t answer.
Because science didn’t care about denial.
Adrian snatched the report and scanned the pages violently. His face lost all color.
“No,” he whispered. “No, this is wrong.”
Chloe immediately stood.
“The test must be contaminated.”
“It was repeated twice,” Dr. Reynolds replied quietly. “The results are conclusive.”
Margaret turned toward Chloe with terrifying slowness.
“You told us this child was the future of our family.”
Chloe’s eyes darted desperately around the room.
“I—I thought—”
“You thought?” Vanessa exploded. “You destroyed my brother’s marriage because you thought?”
Adrian suddenly slammed his fist against the table so hard the water glasses shattered.
“WHO IS THE FATHER?”
The entire clinic floor went silent.
Chloe staggered backward.
“You don’t understand—”
“I gave up my children for this!” Adrian roared.
The words echoed brutally through the room.
And for the first time in years, Margaret Castillo looked afraid of her own son.
But Chloe’s next sentence destroyed what little remained.
“It was never supposed to get this far.”
Silence.
Then Adrian whispered:
“What did you just say?”
Tears flooded Chloe’s eyes.
“It started as revenge.”
Vanessa stared at her.
“Revenge for what?”
Chloe laughed bitterly through tears.
“For Elena.”
Margaret frowned.
“What does Elena have to do with this?”
Chloe looked directly at Adrian.
“You don’t even remember me, do you?”
He blinked.
But slowly…
Recognition surfaced.
Three years earlier.
A junior architect at Castillo Developments.
A woman abruptly fired after exposing financial irregularities in one of the company’s luxury projects.
Adrian’s expression changed.
“You.”
“Yes,” Chloe said coldly. “You ruined my career to protect your investors.”
“That was business.”
“No,” she snapped. “That was corruption.”
Margaret suddenly stood.
“Watch your tone.”
But Chloe wasn’t afraid anymore.
“Your entire empire is built on stolen pension funds, fake shell companies, and bribed inspectors.”
Vanessa’s face turned pale.
Adrian stepped forward dangerously.
“You have no idea what you’re saying.”
“I have proof.”
That sentence hit harder than the DNA test.
Dr. Reynolds quietly exited the room.
This was no longer medicine.
This was war.
Chloe reached into her handbag and pulled out a small flash drive.
“I stayed close to you because I wanted access,” she admitted. “At first, seducing you was part of the plan.”
Margaret looked physically ill.
“But then you made it easy,” Chloe continued. “You lied to your wife. You abandoned your children. You handed me everything willingly.”
