“No,” I said. “Your desperation has changed.”
The second big man took a step toward the porch.
“Lady,” he said, “we can put your stuff in the yard or we can put you there with it.”
I looked at him closely. He had a tattoo peeking above his collar. Not military. Some private security symbol, badly inked, meant to look like a skull if you were drunk enough.
“Do you have medical training?” I asked.

The men looked at each other.
